Happy Friday Y’all! Coming back at you with a new cocktail to kick-off the weekend!
This week I am bringing you a super yummy Cherry Citrus Whiskey Smash. Colin and I got creative last Saturday when making this one. Normally, I wouldn’t opt for a whiskey cocktail but we’re running low on some liquor cabinet essentials if you know what I mean…
Turns out, this Whiskey Smash was AH-MAZING… although requires a little more work then the 3 ingredient Vodka Elderflower Martini I shared last week, I promise it is well worth the effort – Colin had seconds.
So let’s get into it!
Ingredients
- 1 lemon wheel
- 1 lime wheel
- 1 orange wheel
- handful of fresh cherries, pitted and cut into halves
- 4 oz. whiskey of choice – we used Crown Royal
- 4-5 dashes cocktail bitters – we used Peychauds
- .5 oz simple syrup – I had ordered a bunch of mixes from Skinny Mixes at the beginning of this quarantine so we could make healthy-ish cocktails at home and feel a little LESS guilty about all the margs being consumed.
- 1 oz. ginger ale
- 1 oz. club soda
Instructions:
- Wash your fruit, especially given the current state of the World… am I right?!
- Slice your lemon, lime and oranges in thin wheel slices.
- Halve and pit your cherries.
- Add your simple syrup, bitters and fruit to the glass – I added one wheel of lemon, lime, 1/2 a wheel orange and 3 cherry halves.
- Carefully muddle the fruit using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon. This step gets the fruit juices and oils mixed together with the simple syrup and bitters.
- Now add the whiskey and fill your glass with ice cubes.
- Top with equal parts ginger ale and club soda.
- Give your cocktail a stir and add any additional ice if needed.
- That’s it, that’s all! Now sit back and CHEERS to the weekend!
Keep scrolling to see some photos of the cocktail – hopefully they will serve as some inspo for the bartending journey you’re about to embark on!
Wishing you and yours a safe and wonderful weekend!
Cheers Y’all!
